The Rose-Red City — a UNESCO World Heritage Nabataean capital carved directly into rose-coloured sandstone cliffs. The Treasury (Al-Khazneh) is one of the most iconic sights on Earth. Walking the Siq at dawn before the crowds is a spiritual experience.
Petra by Night
The Siq (1.2km Gorge)
The natural gorge leading to the Treasury — 1.2km of winding sandstone walls up to 80m high, narrowing until the Treasury is suddenly revealed. Walking this at dawn before tour groups is magical. FREE with park ticket.
Street of Facades & Colonnaded Street
The main valley beyond the Treasury reveals hundreds of carved tomb facades, a colonnaded Byzantine street, and a 6,000-seat amphitheatre. The ancient city in full.
